LANXESS showcases sustainable solutions for the paint & coatings industry

• Represented through its three business units Inorganic Pigments, Rhein Chemie Additives and Material Protection Products

Mumbai, January 21, 2016: LANXESS, a global specialty chemicals company, presents its comprehensive product portfolio for the paint and coatings industry at the exhibition Paint India 2016 in Mumbai from January 21-23.
The company's presentation spans a broad portfolio including the high-performance pigments from the lightfast, weather-stable and chemical-resistant Bayferrox® and Colortherm® lines, the organic and inorganic pigment preparations Levanyl® and Levanox® and the extensive Preventol® and Biox® range of biocides.

Inorganic Pigments - Premium chemistry for coatings
At the exhibition, LANXESS showcased the whole color range of iron oxide and chromium oxide pigments, and exhibit its sustainable, innovative solutions. LANXESS Inorganic Pigments products – marketed under the well-known brand names of Bayferrox® and Colortherm® – cater to the paint and coatings, construction plastics and paper industries.

The paint and coatings market is very important for LANXESS as it is one of the fastest growing applications for LANXESS’ specialty products. The ongoing urbanization in India creates a growing demand for the coatings industry.
High-quality pigments from LANXESS Inorganic Pigments business unit offer not only outstanding light fastness, high tinting strength, color consistency and weather stability but also an unmatched dispersibility.

LANXESS has recently completed the construction of its new inorganic pigments plant in Ningbo which is scheduled to start production in the first half of 2016. The new plant will be the role model for an environmentally friendly and safe production of high-quality iron oxide red pigments. Highest product quality, sustainable production and resource-saving management of raw materials can be achieved by using the patented and newly developed Ningbo Process.

The total investment at the Ningbo site is around EUR 60 million for an initial annual synthesis capacity of 25,000 metric tons. On the same site, LANXESS is building a mixing and milling plant for inorganic pigments with an annual capacity of 70,000 metric tons and has created a total of around 200 new jobs with these two plants which are scheduled to start production in the first quarter of 2016.

It expands our global production capacity and furthermore strengthens our position as a reliable partner to pigments industry with a broader product portfolio,” said Joerg Hellwig, Head of LANXESS Inorganic Pigments business unit.

Colorants for a broad range of applications
The LANXESS Rhein Chemie Additives business unit, is presenting its products Levanyl® and Levanox®, along with high-performance pigments such as Bayfast® which have versatile applications. Levanyl® products are aqueous, solvent-free organic pigments which are lightfast, and possess high brilliance and noted above all for their fine dispersion and high transparency. Whereas Levanox® is a family of aqueous, solvent-free inorganic pigment preparations, comprising selected high-grade inorganic pigments, which can be used in paints and coatings and detergents. Also showcased at the exhibition is Stabaxol® which used as anti-hydrolysis agent for PU adhesives, coating, sealants and elastomers.

Biocides for paints and coatings 
Rapid industrialization, economic activity and rising demand from urbanization especially the construction applications are driving demand for paints and coatings. As one of the leading manufacturers of biocidal active ingredients and biocide formulations, the LANXESS Material Protection Products business unit (MPP) offers a comprehensive range of products for the paints and coatings industry.

Along with outstanding technical service, the LANXESS Preventol® biocides for coatings fulfill the key demands placed on such products: low toxicity, non-VOC, non FA, cost-effectiveness and compatibility with other components of the coating.  These products do not only preserve the good appearance of facades or patios, for example, but also safeguard the value of these objects in the long term.
